“Many congratulations to all our brothers and sisters of the state on Bihar Diwas! Famous for its rich history and vibrant culture, the people of Bihar are making incomparable contribution in every field for the development of the country. With their dedication and hard work, they have created a special identity (translated from Hindi),” prime minister tweeted.

Why Bihar diwas is celebrated on March 22?

2) The day is observed as a tribute to Bihar's rich history and culture as the state has long been a major centre of learning and power. The famous dynasties and empires that once resided in Bihar included the Mauryas, the Guptas, and the Palas. It has also been a hub of learning and scholarship with institutions like Nalanda and Vikramshila, which were among the oldest and most famous centers of education in the world.

3) On Bihar Day more than 10 crore Biharis unite in a common experience; an experience that, while it may not be simple or essential to explain, nevertheless links them to this wonderful region and its people. It is a time to celebrate their past achievements and look forward to a bright future for the state.
