‘India's Constitution its biggest force,' says PM, launches e-court initiatives
November 26 is marked as the Constitution Day since 2015 to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India by the Constituent Assembly in 1949
India's Constitution is its biggest force, said Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday as he launched four digital court initiatives - to mark the Constitution Day celebrations in the Supreme Court - in the presence of Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud. "Constitution is the biggest force propelling the country's progress," PM Modi said, urging youth to take part in debates and discussions. "The spirit of our Constitution is youth-centric. I request government institutions and judiciary to make endeavors to inculcate more awareness among our youth."
November 26 has been marked as the Constitution Day since 2015 to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution in 1949. "India will get G20 presidency in a week. It's a very big opportunity for the country," the Prime Minister asserted while commending the judiciary for taking digital initiatives to ease access to justice.
At the event, the Prime Minister launched new initiatives under the e-court project. "The Project is an effort to provide services to litigants, lawyers and the judiciary through ICT enablement of courts. The initiatives being launched by the Prime Minister include Virtual Justice Clock, JustIS mobile App 2.0, Digital court and S3WaaS Websites," his office was quoted as saying in a statement ahead of the event.
In a tweet, hours before the event, PM Modi shared a post. "Today, on Constitution Day, we pay homage to those greats who gave us our Constitution and reiterate our commitment to fulfil their vision for our nation."
While Virtual Justice Clock is said to be an initiative to exhibit vital statistics of the justice delivery system at the court-level, giving the details of the cases instituted, cases disposed and pendency of cases; JustIS Mobile App 2.0 is a tool available to judicial officers for effective court and case management by monitoring pendency and disposal of not only his court but also for individual judges working under them. Digital court is an initiative to make the court records available to the judge in digitised form to enable the transition to Paperless Courts, the statement by the Prime Minister's office elaborated.
