The police team, which is probing the suicide of the 14-year-old boy from Andheri (East), said they have sent his mobile phone to the state forensic science laboratory (FSL) to find out if he had deleted anything from the phone. So far, the police have not found anything linking the suicide to the Blue Whale challenge, an online social media game that has led to more than 140 suicides in Europe and Russia.

The police recorded the statements of his parents for an hour on Monday night, who said they don’t have any information on why he took the extreme step.

They said he wanted to become a pilot and would play with his friends from the building, but never went out on his own.

He was always accompanied by his family members, the police said. They said his behaviour had not changed and left home on Saturday around 4.30pm saying he would return in sometime. His teachers said he was a “normal” and “bright” student.

On Tuesday, a police team recorded the statements of his friends in school with whom he had shared information about committing suicide. They also spoke to his friends from the building.
