Bhima Harijan’s daughter Kuntala had brought the sweet delicacy along with a Rakhi to her parents’ home at Haldi village in Raighar block on Sunday.

Bhima’s daughter-in-law Laxmi started vomiting hours after the family consumed the delicacies. She was the first to die. Laxmi’s brother-in-law Diban Harijan and her daughter died at Umerkote community health centre on Monday.

Laxmi’s another daughter was said to be serious.

The food item was sent for test to determine whether it was contaminated.

Laxmi’s husband Bhabagrahi and other members of the family who did not consume the pancakes survived.
