Suvendu retains home, Swapan Dasgupta given finance in new Bengal cabinet

Sharadwat Mukherjee has been appointed the health minister, while former union minister Nishith Pramanik has been allocated the ministries of North Bengal development and water resources.

West Bengal chief minister Suvendu Adhikari on Wednesday allocated portfolios to ministers of the newly formed Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the state.

Adhikari has retained several key portfolios, including home and hill affairs, personnel and administrative reforms, land and land reforms, refugee relief and rehabilitation, power, and information and cultural affairs. (PTI)

Swapan Dasgupta, who won the Rashbehari assembly seat in Kolkata, has been placed in charge of the crucial finance department.

Adhikari took the oath of office on May 9 along with five cabinet ministers and inducted a second batch of 35 ministers on June 1. The West Bengal council of ministers now comprises 19 cabinet-rank ministers, three ministers of state (independent charge), and 19 ministers of state.

Sharadwat Mukherjee has been appointed the health minister, while former union minister Nishith Pramanik has been allocated the ministries of North Bengal development and water resources.

Former state BJP chief Dilip Ghosh has been given charge of panchayats, rural development and agriculture marketing.

Agnimitra Paul has been given the urban development and municipal affairs ministries.

Among the ministers of state with independent charge, Indranil Khan was given the youth services and sports department and the department of consumer affairs.
