‘Will fight…’: Tejashwi Yadav ahead of CBI questioning in land-for-jobs case

After skipping three summons earlier, Bihar deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav appeared before CBI today in the land-for-job case.

Bihar deputy chief minister Tejashwi Yadav appeared before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday in connection with the alleged land-for-job case after the agency assured before the Delhi High Court that it will not arrest him this month. Upon his arrival at the CBI headquarters at around 10:30 am, the Rashtriya Janata Dal leader was escorted to the investigation team after the completion of the necessary formalities, news agency ANI reported. RJD MP and Tejashwi's sister Misa Bharti has also joined Enforcement Directorate (ED) investigations for questioning in the case.

Speaking to ANI, Tejashwi, while leaving his Delhi residence for the CBI office, said that even though the current state of affairs in India has made it tough to fight, they have decided to take on the challenge and will emerge victorious. He added that they have always been cooperative with the investigating agencies.

"We have been cooperating with investigative agencies from the beginning. But the kind of political environment prevailing in the country... It is easy to bow down. But it is very tough to fight," Yadav said. "We have chosen to fight. We will fight and we will prevail," he added.

Earlier, the ED had raided 24 locations including Yadav's Delhi residence, other locations in the national capital region, Patna, Ranchi and Mumbai in connection with a money laundering probe in the land-for-jobs case.

Tejashwi had previously skipped three summons on March 4, 11 and 14. Last time, he did not appear before CBI as his pregnant wife was in the hospital, ANI reported.

On March 15, Delhi Rouse Avenue court granted bail to former railway minister Lalu Prasad, his wife and ex-Bihar chief minister Rabri Devi, their daughter Misa, and 13 others accused in the case.
