Two held for assaulting police officer, father with brick

According to the police, the incident took place on Monday around 7pm when the officer, Jitendra Kumar, who is an assistant sub inspector, was returning home on his motorcycle in Daboda village in Farrukhnagar.

The police on Tuesday arrested two men for allegedly assaulting a police officer and his father with a brick after a minor argument in Farrukhnagar. The police said the officer, posted at Bhondsi police station, and his father sustained minor injuries.

According to the police, the incident took place on Monday around 7pm when the officer, Jitendra Kumar, who is an assistant sub inspector (ASI), was returning home on his motorcycle in Daboda village in Farrukhnagar.

The police said another motorcycle, on which two men were seated, blocked his path and a minor argument ensued between the men.

Roshan Lal, assistant sub inspector (ASI), Farrukhnagar police station, said, “One of them got down and started assaulting Kumar. The man seated pillion picked up a sharp object and hit Kumar on the arm. He was also beaten on the head with a brick.”

The police said passersby informed the police officer’s father, who was purchasing vegetables from a shop nearby.

“Two more suspects arrived and pushed his father around. One of them hit him with a stone. After men from the village intervened, the suspects fled,” ASI Lal said.

The police said two suspects, identified by their first names as Pawan and Golu, were arrested, while the other two, Manoj and Nitin, were on the run.

A case was registered against the four suspects under sections 341, 323 , 324 , 506 , 34 of the Indian Penal Code at Farrukh Nagar police station on Monday, the police said.
