A girl sustained severe burns on her face after acid was allegedly thrown on her in a village under Sikandarpur police station area on Wednesday.

A girl sustained burns on her face after acid was allegedly thrown on her in a village under Sikandarpur police station area on Wednesday evening when she along with her mother was on way to fields to attend the call of nature, police said.
Two youths were reportedly involved in the incident that came to light after the girl's father lodged a complaint in this regard on Thursday. Later, the culprit duo was arrested.
According to the police, the girl suffered burns on her face and other body parts. As her mother cried for help following the incident, locals reached the spot and rushed the girl to a government hospital. Further probe into the matter is in progress to establish as to what prompted the youths to commit the crime.
