Chief Medical Officer of Health (CMOH) Burdwan, Md Abu Ershad said, "Nine-year-old Guria Ruidas and 10-year-old Rahul Hossain died of diarrhoea late last night."

The other affected people have been admitted to Barakar Health Centre, nursing homes and temporary medical camps, he added.

He said the contaminated water of Lalbazar in the industrial town of Kulti has been feared to cause the disease outbreak.

Samples of water has been collected and sent to test in a laboratory, CMOH said

Most of the affected people belong to Lalbazar, Ranchi village, Mosjedipar and Hossaindanga in wards 25, 26, 27 and 28 of Kulti municipality.

Municipality authorities said water supply from the reservoir, which was not cleaned and disinfected for long, has been stopped.

Drinking water was being ferried to the affected wards in water tankers from ECL and other areas in the city, officials said.
