Kumar, who was in the Indian Police Service, had been accused of misbehaving with the wife of an additional superintendent of police, R.D. Goyal, in 1985.

Kumar, the then Bikaner superintendent of police, had on March 23, 1985, alleged to have entered Goyal’s residence in an inebriated state and misbehaved with his wife.

Vijay Singh Seenwar, additional chief judicial magistrate of Ratangarh in Churu convicted Kumar for trying to outrage the woman’s modesty.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 500, or an additional two months’ imprisonment. “I respect the court’s order. I have been targeted under a conspiracy. Earlier, in a departmental enquiry I was declared innocent,” Kumar said.
