6 die, many missing in Yamuna boat mishap

The boat capsized in the river near Ballabgarh in Haryana this morning. Six bodies have been recovered.

At least six people drowned and many were missing when an overcrowded boat sank in river Yamuna near Ballabgarh in Haryana on Sunday morning.

Six bodies had been recovered, officials at the scene said, adding, the tragedy occurred at around 08:15 hrs.

Four people, who swam to safety, had been admitted to a hospital, they said.

Rescue work is going on, and a large number of villagers gathered at the place.

They raised slogans against the district administration and threw stones at police alleging that relief operations started two hours late.
