EIGHT ANIMALS were burnt alive in a fire that broke out in a cattle shed at Depalpur late last night. According to sources, eight animals - including cows, buffaloes, calves and mules - owned by potter Jagdish Kumhar were burnt alive in the fire that broke out in the cattle enclosure.

The enclosure was far away from his house and another house fell between the shed and the owner’s house. It is assumed that the fire broke out in the dry hay stocked at the shed. The owners of both houses did not come to know of the incident and were alerted by some passers-by.

Though the incident occurred at 4.30 am, the local police informed the control room at Indore, which immediately informed the fire brigade and local SDM G S Dhundhey. The fire tenders and Dhundhey reached the spot within an hour. Although no cattle could be saved, the fire was contained and no other damage was reported.
