The musical function was organised under the joint auspices of Indian Council for Cultural Relations and a cultural organisation Kala Prakash. The venue was jam-packed with the music-lovers.
The performance by Kumar Gandharva’s wife Vasundhara Komkali and daughter Kalapini Komkali left the audience spell bound. Both of them started their performance with raga ‘Jayjaywanti’ and presented a drut song ‘Ye main Lai’. Later they presented a traditional composition, ‘Man Na Karo’, in raga Gaur Malhar and concluded their programme by presenting melodious Bhajan of Kabir, ‘Bhola Man Jane Amar Meri Kaya’.
Earlier, the programme started with a presentation by Kumar Gandharva’s grandson, Bhuvnesh Komkali. He started with traditional Khayal in raga ‘Kedar’. Later he presented a Tarana and concluded his programme by singing Kabir’s bhajan, ‘Naiya Mori Nik Noike Chalan laggi’. The vocal performances were accompanied by Vinod Lele on tabla and Vinay Mishra on harmonium.
