The Bangalore development centre, the largest of the NASDAQ-listed firm, would be expanded to take the payroll here to 240 from the current 120 by December-end, said Demetri Christodoulou, Adaptec Regional Manager for ANZ & ASEAN.

Deepak S Naik, the newly appointed Business Development Manager for India, said that the R&D centre is being shifted to a 40,000 sq ft facility in Bangalore to accommodate the expanded team of professionals.

"We are mainly targeting the SMB segment in India," said Christodoulou, speaking on the customer focus.

Adaptec's software and hardware-based solutions are delivered through Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and channel partners to provide storage connectivity, data protection and networked storage across verticals, he said.

The company also announced that it has extended the distribution rights of Ingram Micro (India) to include Adaptec HBA and RAID controllers. It said all Adaptec products would now be available through Ingram Micro (India) distribution network throughout India.
