Deshmukh had rebelled against the party and formed the Kisan Vikas Aghadi in the state. He had also contested the Lok Sabha elections as a rebel candidate.

This was the second major decision of the party in the state in the last few days after the revocation of Narayan Rane's suspension on February 16 and his subsequent induction in the Ashok Chavan-led Congress government on Thursday.
