AS MANY as 10.80 lakh children will be administered polio drops in the district during the six-day pulse polio drive starting from Sunday.

On the first day on Sunday, a total of 3367 booths (2565 in rural area and 811 in urban area) will be set up by the district health department. From Tuesday, house to house activity will be conducted to cover children who were not administered polio drops at the booths. The department has deputed 1750 (1306 in rural areas and 444 in urban areas) house to house teams for covering the children. About 508 supervisors have been deputed in rural areas and 170 in urban areas to monitor the drive. There will also be a total of 10128 (7695 in rural areas and 2433 in urban areas) vaccinators to immunise the children.
About 127 mobile and transit teams will remain deputed at the bus stand, railway station and tempo stand. As many as 25 supervisors will also remain present at the transit points identified by the department. The polio vaccine has already reached the peripheral health centres. The booth timings were from 8 am to 3 pm, informed polio drive coordinator.
