The 820-km road march is aimed at drawing attention of the Centre and Maharashtra government towards the long-pending statehood demand of the people of Vidarbha, Lok Manch State Executive President Mukim Ahmad told reporters here.

A preparatory meeting would be arranged at Nagpur before the march in which actress and former SP leader Jayaprada, party leaders Obedulla, Aravind Singh and others would attend to discuss the statehood demand, he said. Earlier, the outfit had taken up the cause of Purvanchal, he claimed yesterday.
