It was alleged that there was lawlessness everywhere in the State under Mulayam Singh Yadav Government and criminal activities were on a persistent rise besides sharp rise on police atrocities.

President of the Manch, Dhananjay Patel, alleged that criminals and capitalists were controlling the State government and common people were reeling under a sense of insecurity. The demonstrators also submitted a five-point charter of demands to the district magistrate to be forwarded to the Governor. Major demands of the demonstrators included compensation to the tune of Rs 5 lakh to the family members of a minor girl who was allegedly raped in Danupur village in Shivpur recently and withdrawal of proposed project of establishing a hi-tech city.

Anil Maurya, Balram Yadav, Rajnarayan Yadav, Kamlesh Chaudhary and Munnalal Patel were among others who addressed the dharna and demanded dismissal of the State government.
