The trader suspects the role of his driver in the incident. The driver is reporting absconding.
The incident took place around 3 am when room no-109 of Sheela Hotel at Lokmanganj, Charbagh was knocked where wholesale trader Ritesh Jain, his cashier Kishore Kumar and driver Anuj were staying. As Anuj opened the door four youths standing outside asked him to move Jain’s car away from outside the hotel.
The foursome reportedly said they were unable to drive their vehicle out from the parking as Jain’s car was parked on the rear. As Anuj was talking to them, the youths pushed him back and barged into the room. They held Jain, his cashier, the driver at gunpoint and snatched briefcase keys from Jain. Later, they collected Rs 6 lakh from the briefcase, locked them up in the toilet and left the hotel. After two hours, Anuj untied himself and others and informed the hotel. They came to know that the youths were staying at room no-122. Jain later called up his father at Hapur who gave him phone number of Charbagh Vyapar Mandal office bearer Ravi Jain.
Jain later called up Ravi and intimated him about the incident. The hotel staff revealed that they had seen Jain’s driver Anuj visiting room no-122 where he had stayed for about half-an-hour.
Suspecting his role in the incident, Ravi Jain and others beat up the driver who later confessed his involvement in the loot. Jain and others locked the driver into a room and went to the Naka police station late in the morning.
The police reached the hotel to find that the driver had fled from another door of the room where he was locked.
