Army remembers valiant jawans on Noushera Day

The Army on Saturday observed Noushera Day by commemorating the supreme sacrifice made by valiant jawans and civilians at the Tain Dhar battle in Jammu and Kashmir in 1947-48.

The Army on Saturday observed Noushera Day by commemorating the supreme sacrifice made by valiant jawans and civilians at the Tain Dhar battle in Jammu and Kashmir in 1947-48.

Army officials recalled the sacrifices of Param Vir Chakra Naik Yadunath Singh and others who fought shoulder to shoulder to ward off Pakistani troops during the 1947-48 operations in Noushera belt of Rajouri district.

The stoic and brave defence of Noushera was the turning point of entire battle of J&K during the operations.

The ceremony started on a solemn note with wreath-laying held at Yadunath Park in Noushera belt, 120 km from here. Wreaths were laid by Commander Noushera Brigade, Brig Anil Kumar Bhat and commanding officers of various units at the Noushera war memorial today.

This was followed by presentation of awards to jawans for their distinguished service.

Glowing tributes were paid to the valiant martyrs who left a glorious trail of victory with their exemplary display of unwavering courage and duty towards their motherland.
