Auto-spare copycats in police net

IN A major breakthrough on Tuesday , the cops unearthed three separate factories manufacturing counterfeit automobile spare parts bearing hallmark of leading companies in Qaiserbagh and Aminabad areas for past few years.

The cops arrested 26 persons, including one of the owners and employees and seized goods worth Rs 4 crore from the three units.
The manufacturing units had state-of-the-art machines and the factory owners were supplying spare parts to the wholesalers and the retailers across the state.
The parts included plunger of diesel automobiles, D-valves and other parts of the engines of various vehicles. The spare parts were being packed bearing trademark and name of companies like Mico, Mahindra & Mahindra, FI and Kisan brands.
The cops were tipped-off about three units running in the name of Sarah Diesel and Bharat Diesel at Nayagaon locality in Qaiserbagh and Chaand Diesel spares at PP Wali gulli in Aminabad were manufacturing spare parts, especially for diesel automobiles in the name of leading brands in the market. The owners of the factories have been identified as Kasim, Fakre Alam and Mohammad Haroon, respectively.
Senior police officials were informed about the sensational forgery and the crime branch team was roped in with the Qaiserbagh and Aminabad police to conduct the operation.
The police were first tipped off about Chaand Diesel spare parts in Aminabad. The police team raided the building to know that the owner Haroon was running the factory in his house only. While the manufacturing unit was established in the basement, the godown and the marketing section was located on the first floor of the house.
Initially, Haroon tried to mislead the police team showing registration of the unit but he landed in the net as the cops recovered packed spare parts bearing marks of leading companies and ready to be dispatched to various cities in the state. The cops later reached at the basement where they caught employees busy on hi-tech machines.
While quizzing Haroon, he revealed about two other factories engaged in the same racket. The police team later raided two other units located in the houses of Fakre Alam and Kasim. The cops seized spare parts from these two places too. In the course of interrogation, Haroon revealed that they used to purchase rejected and old spare parts from the junk market and recycle it on hi-tech machines. These parts used to be dispatched with new packing again in the market.
