Talking to mediapersons here on Tuesday, Azam Khan said that late Bismillah Khan was national asset who gave a new height to shehnai. Azam Khan went to the grave of late Bismillah Khan. He later visited his house in Harha Sarai area and consoled the bereaved family members.
“The State government would extend all support to make Varanasi a memorable place and the grave of Khan Saheb would be decorated with red stones”, he said and directed the city commissioner to submit the estimated cost for the construction purpose to the State government.
About setting up a music Academy in the memory of late Bismillah Khan, he said the proposed music academy would not be established in Varanasi.
“Lucknow is the best place for setting up the music academy”, he said.
Regarding the ongoing controversy over ‘Vande Matram’, the Minister said that recitation of the National Song, ‘Vande-Matram’, was not an issue of debate.
“The National Song, Vande-Matram is for every one but Congress played a ‘Hindu card’ by creating controversy over the National Song”, Azam Khan said and added that Congress was playing with the sentiments of Muslims.
