Babri case: HC to hear plea of accused on Jul 31

Lucknow bench of Allahabad HC will hear the petition of one accused of Ayodhya demolition case on July 31.

The Lucknow bench of Allahabad High Court on Wednesday fixed July 31 for the hearing of a petition filed by one of the accused in the Babri Masjid demolition case seeking to challenge the authority of the CBI to act as a prosecuting agency.

A single judge bench of Justice Shailendra Saxena posted the matter for further hearing on July 31 next after hearing the counsel of petitioner Moreshwar Save.

In his application, Save has pleaded that the CBI was merely an investigative agency and it had no right to launch prosecution proceedings.

The investigative agency has filed a petition in the High Court challenging the special CBI court's order dropping proceedings against former BJP president LK Advani, former Union ministers MM Joshi, Uma Bharti, BJP national vice-president Kalyan singh and Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackerey besides Save.
