A 11-month baby girl was killed, allegedly by her father, with a sickle at Bhanapur on the outskirts of Cuttack, police said on Friday.

A 11-month baby girl was killed, allegedly by her father, with a sickle at Bhanapur on the outskirts of Cuttack, police said on Friday.
Pramod Rout (30), a daily wage earner, alleged slit the throat of the little child on Thursday night and remained at large thereafter.
The sickle has been recovered.
While motive behind the crime was not confirmed, abject poverty and drinking habit of the accused could be the main factors, police said.
