Federation of Bank Employees Union (FBEU) had called the strike on Tuesday to press for the demand that the management honour its agreement with the Union on 'transfers and promotion'.

"The strike was called off after a meeting with the management," FBEU secretary Ashok Gupta said.

The management has agreed to continue with the existing transfer policy and promotion for sub-staff, Gupta added.

More than 20,000 employees and officers of the Chennai-based nationalised bank were to observe the strike across the country on Tuesday.
