Bhutto was uncharacteristically aggressively after a long confabulation here on Friday with her party's MPs, senators and senior leaders, who all had flown in for devising a strategy to oust Musharraf and "restore genuine democracy" in Pakistan.

She said Pakistani scientists were being made scapegoats in the nuclear proliferation controversy. When asked about the likely fate of Dr A Q Khan, the principal figure in the controversy,. Bhutto said, "Some believe that his life is in danger".

"It's a lie that Dr Khan did all the things. Musharraf must be held accountable... It is the patriotic duty to hold him accountable", she said.

The proliferation, since 2000, too place under Musharraf, who was president as well as the army chief, she pointed out. She said Musharraf and his generals were harming Pakistan’s nuclear programme.
