Bharati, Delhi’s own emporium of showcasing handicrafts, is back in the reckoning.
The newly renovated and refurbished Delhi Emporium, at Baba Kharak Singh Marg, with cosmopolitan interiors was opened for public on Tuesday.
Run by the Delhi State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation (DSIIDC), the emporium was inaugurated by Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit. Delhi industry minister HaroonYusuf was also present in the function.
“Spread over three floors, the Bharati Delhi Emporium showcases brass artefacts, leather items, wooden toys, artificial jewellery, tea, handloom products artefacts of awardees, handmade papers and others,” a DSIIDC spokesperson said.
The emporium has been renovated with a view to create a brand identity, develop new cosmopolitan interiors and reduce clutter, he said.
“Every section has a customised display window. While keeping the look and feel standardised, the various product dynamics define the display area. The white flooring gives an illuminated effect,” he added.
