IN A daredevil incident, a youth was allegedly abducted at gunpoint from Anjum Hotel at Nadra Bus Stand on the night intervening Friday and Saturday just when there was a high alert in the entire state including the capital.
The abductors took the victim, Karan Singh, towards New Market in their jeep and brutally beat him before he somehow managed to escape and informed the police. Eight of the nine accused have been arrested.
The main accused, Yogendra Singh Tomar alias Gotu is also an accused in the murder of one Pushpendra Baghel alias Dadu who was crushed to death with a jeep in Mangalwara few months back. Gotu is currently out on bail. The latest incident was fallout of an ongoing rivalry between the two gangs wanting to settle scores with each other, police said.
As shops and hotels remain open throughout the night at the Nadra Bus Stand and the incident took place in a crowded area in full public view, the daredevil abduction created sensation in the area. SP Anant Kumar Singh said that a
group of youths including Vijay, Krishna, Zafar, Piyush, Akhilesh and Karan Singh, were having their dinner at Anjum Hotel at 2:15 am.
Another group, including Yogendra Tomar alias Gotu, Aavesh Bhadoria, Manish Bhadoria, Nitin Tiwari, Amit Tiwari, Sandeep Madankar, Navin Mishra, Gulab and Rajkumar, was also having dinner in the same hotel at the same time.
Aavesh reportedly called Vijay and asked him to pay respects to Gotu Tomar. This led to an altercation following which Aavesh allegedly pointed his pistol at Vijay Sahu. A melee ensued in the hotel. Meanwhile Aavesh and his friends caught Karan Singh and forced him into their Scorpio MP O9/V-5188 and took him away.
Sahu got a complaint registered with the police. The abductors beat up Karan who later fled from Platinum Plaza where he had been taken. Police raided several places in the night and arrested eight of the nine accused by the wee hours on Saturday.
The accused have been charged with abduction and rioting. Manish Bhadoria is a history-sheeter of TT Nagar and was booked under National Security Act (NSA) two years back. The other accused, Gotu Tomar is the main accused in the murder of Pushpendra Baghel who was allegedly crushed under a speeding jeep. Besides, Aavesh is an accused in the assault on a shop owner in New Market last month.
