The Army on Tuesday foiled a major terrorist plot to carry out attacks in the city on Republic Day with the recovery of a huge cache of arms and ammunition.

Acting on a tip off, troops launched a search operation in Raipur area close to MAM Stadium - the venue of Republic Day function and also at Jammu airport on Tuesday morning, Brigade Commander Mira Sahab, Brigadier Manjit Singh said.
"The ammunition was to be used to carry out terror attacks and trigger explosions on Republic Day in MAM Stadium, Jammu airport and all Army cantonments," he said.
Ten kg of RDX/TNT, 15 electric detonators, 10 delay time devices, 10 time pencils and five metres of cordix wire and five pika rounds were recovered, Singh said.
Five raido sets, three AK rifles, four magazines, 879 rounds, 13 handgrenades, one UBGL, four UBGL grenades, five pistols, eleven pistol magazines, 2200 pistol rounds, and one silencer were also found, he said.
