Bihar Police to accept FIRs through email

Initially the new facility will be available in four districts of Bihar which are Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Sitamarhi and Sheohar.

The Bihar Police will accept First Information Reports (FIRs) filed through email.

Initially, the facility will be available in four districts - Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Sitamarhi and Sheohar.

"Now, an FIR can be lodged through email in Tirhut division," Director General of Police Arvind Pandey said on Saturday.

Pandey, known for his innovative measures, said he had directed superintendents of police to accept FIRs via email.

"This small move will enable people to lodge an FIR without facing any problem," he said.
