A case has been filed against cricketer Yuvraj Singh by the mother of Yuvraj Sidharth. Neelam Mahajan's suit alleged that her son was beaten up at Yuvraj Singh's birthday party, held at Singh's house on December 12.

The criminal and defamation suit in the court of magistrate Rajrani Gupta charged Yuvraj Singh with criminal assault, and making derogatory remarks against Yuvraj Sidharth and Mahajan.

Mahajan also made the Haryana Police a party in the case, alleging that they did not investigate her complaint.

She declared she was filing the complaint on her son's behalf since he was terrified of Yuvraj Singh.

Yuvraj Singh's mother Shabnam Singh refuted the charges. "Yuvraj Sidharth himself had said that Yuvraj Singh had not assaulted him; rather, he was trying to save him from those who were beating him up. We have documentary proof to show we are innocent," she said.

Mahajan's lawyer said the case had been admitted, and will be heard on Saturday.
