The BJP on Saturday accused Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss of vindictiveness in calling a meeting of the institute body of AIIMS purportedly to discuss charges against its director P Venugopal.

Senior BJP leader VK Malhotra, also a member of the institute body, alleged that the agenda for the October 18 meeting showed that the Minister was not concerned about the dengue outbreak.

"We condemn it. This shows the Minister just wants to settle personal scores with Venugopal and is least bothered about dengue and chikungunya," Malhotra remarked.

He, however, maintained that he would attend the meeting to put his protest on record.

The agenda paper, circulated to members of the institute body, accuses Venugopal of mismanagement of the hospital.

It also asked the AIIMS director, who challenged the Centre's moves in July to sack him in court, to explain all the charges.

Malhotra also blamed the Health Minister for the dengue outbreak, alleging he ordered no measures to check the spread of the deadly disease last month.
