BJP deputes Joshi for party revival in east UP

The party has now assigned this ‘revival task’ to Sanjay Joshi who was recently reinducted as party’s general secretary after he fell from grace and resigned over porno-CD issue.
Party sources said Joshi was scheduled to arrive here on May 24 in connection with a workers’ meeting on the same day in Varanasi. Party workers of 13 districts of Eastern Uttar Pradesh including Ballia, Mirzapur, Bhadhoi, Chandauli, Gazipur, Mau, Azamgarh, Gorakhpur, Deoria and Jaunpur have been asked to attend the meeting on Wednesday.
There is a possibility of appointing three heads for party organisation in entire Uttar Pradesh.
“The party is seriously thinking of appointing three organisational heads to cover entire UP,” party sources said.
They added the idea was to strengthen party’s grassroots level cadre and to retrieve its lost political ground.
It may be mentioned after the BJP’s fall during the last Parliamentary elections, the party’s position deteriorated with even diehard party activists feeling depressed and demoralised.
Uma Bharati’s expulsion, Pramod Mahajan’s demise and now Jharkhand episode where the party allowed to loose its staunch leader Babu Lal Marandi who was the first Chief Minister of that state after its formation, the situation has worsened in eastern UP.
Rajnath Singh, new party president who happens to be from Chandauli district of eastern UP has failed to carve a niche for himself in his own home district.
It must be remembered that Joshi who was an emissary of the party leadership sent to convince Babulal Marandi had proved to be a damp squib.
Joshi was sent back by Marandi after he rejected his advise.
This had left a negative impact on party workers here.
It now remains to be seen how Joshi would mobilise the scattered cadres once again during his meeting on Wednesday.
