Addressing a Press conference here on Saturday, BJP State president Keshari Nath Tripathi said his party was prepared for the Assembly election and seemed confident that BJP would emerge as an effective alternative to Samajwadi Party government.
“There is no question of BSP emerging as an alternative to SP as both follow similar policies,” he said.
“BJP is an alternative to SP government because it has always fought for the issues related to common public,” Tripathi said. He said his party has scrutinised names of candidates for 200 assembly segments which would be finalised soon.
He said that the party would give preference to youth and field 20 to 30 percent candidates between the age group of 21 years to 36 years in the assembly election and added that the party will also field an effective woman candidate from each district in the election.
Criticising the SP-led state government, Tripathi apprehended that it was creating a situation prevalent in pre-Independence period (1942-46). He further added that the policy of State government to divide people in the name of religion and community was responsible for this.
“Demand for a separate state for Muslims by Azam Khan would also be BJP’s election plank as the party feels raising such demands was nothing but an attempt to disintegrate India,” he added.
Tripathi said that there was concrete evidence of the involvement of SIMI activists in the anti-national activities but Chief Minister Mulayam Singh was giving clean chit to SIMI.
