No one was injured in the blast which took place near a transformer at the minister's residence last night, police said, adding the farm house caretakers and maintenance staff were inside the building. The minister and his family members were not present at the time of blast, they said.

The two, initially detained for drunken driving and traffic rule violation, were later held as suspects behind the incident, they said.

Tlanghmingthanga has been facing the ire of state PCC workers for filing defamation case against Congress legislator R Lalzirliana who had publicly accused the state government of paying ransom to secure the release of two captives abducted by Hmar insurgents.

The minister had denied the charges. Congress workers had recently demonstrated near the minister's farm house, accusing him of amassing wealth and misusing his office.
