They include Haider Ali alias Abdullah alias “Black Beauty”, Mujibullah Ansari and Taufique Ansari, all members of the banned SIMI. The charges were framed under various sections of the IPC, Explosive Substances Act and Unlawful Activities Prevention Act.

The serial bombings in Bodh Gaya on July 7, 2012 had left five persons injured.

The National Investigation Agency, which filed a chargesheet against the three accused on September 11, 2014, had used various scientific methods to solve the case.

Incidentally, the trio had earlier also been chargesheeted for their alleged involvement in the serial blasts at the Hunkar Rally in Patna on October 27, 2013, which was addressed by Narendra Modi, BJP’s prime ministerial candidate then.

It was only after the Patna blast accused were nabbed that those behind the Bodh Gaya serial blasts came to light.

Haider was linked to the Bodh Gaya blast case after NIA found a hair from a monk robe. After a DNA test of the hair strand, his involvement in the case was confirmed. The accused is alleged to have worn a monk’s robe while planting the bomb.

“Haider and his accomplices undertook five reconnaissance trips to Bodh Gaya to assess the security arrangements and decide the exact places where bombs were to be planted,” NIA had said in its chargesheet.
