Bomb found near FCI godown, minister's residence

A 10-kg bomb, allegedly planted by insurgents to attack security personnel, was found from a place near a godown of Food Corporation of India (FCI) and private residence of a Manipur minister in Imphal West district.

A 10-kg bomb, allegedly planted by insurgents to attack security personnel, was found from a place near a godown of Food Corporation of India (FCI) and private residence of a Manipur minister in Imphal West district.

Official sources said the improvised explosive devices (IED) was found near a roadside at FCI godown area at Sangai pouro, near Imphal airport, at around 10.30 pm yesterday fitted with a timer.

The spot is also 100 metres from the private residence of Manipur health minister T. Phungzathang.

The 10-kg bomb was later defused.
