The additional director (Basic) Rekha Srivastva informed that a meeting presided over by the director Education on June 21, 2006 in the State Capital, passed a direction to all district Basic Siksha Adhikaris (BSAs) to release salary for three months of newly appointed Vishith BTC teachers in Parsahdiya Primary schools in their respective district.

Srivastva said that all BSAs of the Kanpur division had been instructed to start work on a priority basis and ensure that all valid candidates were paid by the first week of July 2006.

When told that verification process of certificates was not being done on priority basis, she refuted the allegation and said that in Etawah out of 1076 teachers 362, in Aurriya out of 643 teachers 302, in Kanpur City out of 305 teachers 175, in Kanpur Dehat out of 338 teachers 77, in Kannuj out of 577 teachers 99 and in Farukhabad out of 838 teachers 385 teachers’ verification was completed by June 12 and till today the numbers of the same verification might have increased.

Srivastva added that best efforts were being made to complete the verification work, so that teachers facing financial crunch may get relief.

In the mean time, president of the Vishith BTC Shikshak Sangh Sarvesh Trivedi held a press conference and alleged that the verification process had not started for educational certificate of Vishith BTC teachers of Etwah and Aurriya districts.

Besides, he alleged that in other districts of Kanpur Division, the verification drive was very slow. Replying to a question raised about the cause of delay, Trivedi blamed the principal of District Institute of Education Training (DIET), Kanpur Sant Ram Soni and Rampal Singh Parihar incharge for verification at DIET.

However, Etwah and Aurriya BSA Shadhav Singh called misleading the charges raised by Trivedi. Singh said that about 50% teachers are likely to get their salary by the end of the month in both districts and around 80% would be paid their salary by the first week of July, since the verification of educational certificate of 80% teachers had already been completed in both districts.

Singh also said 26 teachers’ educational certificates in both districts were found fake. Therefore, the cancellation of their selection had been recommended following lodging of an FIR against them. He also hinted at action against teachers who were trying to defame the Primary Education Department by passing false information about its working.
