The museum will exhibit some of its rare collections of Buddha, including sculptures, relics and exemplary pieces of fine art of that period.

For the next one and a half months the museum officials will set on identifying the objects and other art pieces to be put up in the Buddha Art Gallery. Not just the objects that are already on display but those that are lying in the museum reserves will also be exhibited. The gallery will be of great help to the students of Ancient History too.

State Museum director Jitendra Kumar said, “Once the objects are identified, they will be cleaned,, if needed, to give it a better look. No separate building will come up for this gallery and all objects pertaining to Buddha period will be showcased in one room inside the museum building.”

“The attraction of this gallery will be newly found sandstone piece that projects 32 images of Buddha in meditative pose. Found in Hardoi, this new collection will surely attract the attention of historians as no other museum has this kind of collection. Also, some of rare collections of our reserve will be a treat to see,” he said.

Also in the card is temporary exhibition of Thankas. According to Kumar, few years back theMuseum has set up an exclusive gallery depicting different images, sculptures and exemplary art pieces pertaining to the life of Mahavira. It has been learnt that the Culture department has asked the museum to set up a Buddha gallery to commemorate birth anniversary.
