Bush's return: Does it augur well for Indian Americans?

At around 2.00 am EST, though the Democratic vice-presidential nominee John Edwards indicated that they would stay on course until every vote was counted, it became increasingly obvious that the Democrats were extending the inevitable.

At around 4.00 am, the Bush lead in Ohio with over 96 per cent of the vote counted, both statistically and realistically appeared "insurmountable".

In hindsight, the extended overnight drama seemed unnecessary. The word was understood long before it was said. President Bush would retain the White House.

In fact, Tuesday night was a resounding victory for the President and the Republicans. He not only sealed the electoral vote, but also the popular vote with a margin of over 4 million votes.
