Caste tension after death of youth

It may be mentioned that on January 27 Ashu Shukla, son of Shyam Bihari Shukla and a resident of Panaupur village, was allegedly called by the girl Shailesh Pal and her mother at their house in the village to discuss tense relationship between Ashu and Shailesh, who is mother of a child.

After visiting her house Ashu returned to his home and started vomiting. When his father Shyam Bihari Shukla enquired Ashu said that he was given sweets at Shailesh’s residence by her mother. Same night Ashu breathed his last, creating tension in the village.

Earlier, Ashu used to run a PCO in the village and Shalesh, while visiting the PCO developed an illicit relationship with him. When a proposal of marriage was declined by Ashu, Shailesh allegedly framed him in the kidnapping of her daughter and he was put behind bars.

Annoyed over the death of Ashu on Saturday, relatives of Ashu pelted stones at the house of Shailesh and her mother, who had disappeared in the night.

A villager said, “If police fail to nab the absconding mother and daughter then further caste clash can not be ruled out.”

Chaubepur SHO said, “There is tension in the village following death of Ashu but heavy contingent of police has been deployed to maintain peace.”
