CBI arrests senior railway official on graft charges

CBI has arrested a senior railway official for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a contractor.

CBI has arrested a senior railway official for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a contractor.

The accused, Hari Kishore Gupta, divisional engineer (Central) of Western Railways, had allegedly demanded a bribe from the complainant for extending the time limit of the contract period for civil works in railway stations.

The complainant then lodged a complaint with CBI, Gandhinagar branch and a case was registered.

"The CBI laid a trap and the accused was caught while receiving the bribe of Rs 5,000 from the complainant," Press Information Officer of CBI, R K Gaur said.
