CBI judge Pattabhi Rama Rao arrested

The Andhra Pradesh anti-Corruption bureau has arrested suspended Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) judge Justice Pattabhi Raman Rao in the cash-for-bail case.

The Andhra Pradesh anti-Corruption bureau has arrested suspended Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) judge Justice Pattabhi Raman Rao in the cash-for-bail case. Rao is accused of accepting a bribe worth five crores to pass bail orders in favour of former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhana Reddy in an illegal mining case.

Rao's residence was raided in connection with the case three days ago.

Justice Rao was suspended last month by the Andhra Pradesh Chief Justice.

On May 11, Judge Rao had granted conditional bail to the mining baron while rejecting the bail to suspended IAS officer Y Srilakshmi, another accused in the Obulapuram Mining Company case.
