CBI raids residences of Jogi, Judeo

Residences of Ajit Jogi and Dilip Singh Judeo were searched on Sunday in connection with the cash-on-camera scam involving the latter.

The residences of former Chhattisgarh chief minister Ajit Jogi and former central minister Dilip Singh Judeo were searched on Sunday in connection with the cash-on-camera scam involving the latter.

Sleuths of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrived at Jogi's house here at 10 a.m. and the search continued till late in the evening.

Earlier on Sunday, the CBI registered a corruption case against Judeo in New Delhi.

Jogi was in his hometown of Bilaspur when the raids began.

A CBI team searched Judeo's house in Jashpur district, 400 km from here.

The agency also raided the office of the Akash cable TV channel that is owned by an associate of Jogi's son Amit.

Amit Jogi is suspected of having conducted a sting operation in which Judeo, the former minister of state for environment and forests, was secretly filmed accepting money in return for allegedly arranging mining rights.

Judeo quit as a minister in Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee's government after the scandal broke last month.

The CBI, which was asked by the prime minister to probe the scandal, had begun a preliminary enquiry in the case on November 18.
