CBI to probe tiger deaths in Ranthambhore

The Ministry of Environment and Forest has decided to entrust CBI with the task in the interest of wildlife conservation.

Government on Thursday said it would ask the CBI to investigate tiger poaching cases in the Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve of Rajasthan.

The Ministry of Environment and Forest has decided to entrust CBI with the task in the interest of wildlife conservation, an official release said in New Delhi.

The terms of reference of the investigation would include role of poachers and possible connivance of Forest Department staff, it said.

The CBI investigation would also dwell into nexus of any other local resident individuals with the poachers having ramifications beyond the state level and also the impact of land use changes on tiger poaching, it added.
