Patil made the remark at a meeting chaired by him to discuss the recent Supreme Court judgement on police reforms, an official release said.

The meeting felt the apex court judgement was generally in line with the thinking in the Home Ministry on police reforms.

Patil was informed that the Police Act Drafting Committee would be submitting its report next month and it is likely to pave the way for replacing the Police Act of 1861 with a new one, incorporating far reaching reforms.

Home Secretary VK Duggal, Legal Affairs Secretary TK Vishwanathan and the Commissioner of Delhi Police were among those who attended the hour-long meeting.
