Chattisgarh Cong MLA's demand Vora's resignation
13 MLAs from the the Chattisgarh Cong unit have demanded Vora's resignation for party's debacle in the just-concluded LS polls in the state.
Opposing Chhattisgarh PCC President Motilal Vora's possible entry into Sonia Gandhi's Cabinet, 13 MLAs from the state party unit have demanded his resignation for party's debacle in the just-concluded Lok Sabha polls in the state.
"Congress has three MPs from the state in the dissolved House and since it lost in ten out of 11 Lok Sabha seats of the state under the leadership of PCC president Vora, adopting the Congress tradition he should immediately resign from the Presidentship," Party MLA Shiv Kumar Dehria said.
Claiming that seven ST, three SC and two OBC MLAs, out of 37, are also with him in demanding the same, Dehria, a close confidant of former Chief Minister Ajit Jogi said: "If people like Vora will be given place in the Union Cabinet then that will be disrespect to both the organisation and against the wishes of people of Chhattisgarh."
The party's failure clearly reflected that not only the Congress organisation but also the people of the state have rejected his leadership, he added.
"Since people and the organisation have rejected Vora's leadership, he should resign from the PCC presidentship owing moral responsibility," Dehria said.
Vora selected PCC executive president Charan Das Mahant to contest from Janjgir, who lost to BJP in April 20 Lok Sabha poll.
Similarly, Mahendra Karma, who is appointed Leader of Opposition in the state assembly by Vora also lost from Bastar, including in his assembly segment Dantewada, Dehria said.
