The incident led the police to up security in the town on Thursday after the supporters of the Chautala family condemned the act.

The administration has removed the defaced posters. Meanwhile, the INLD office on Dabwali Road and the Chautala family's residence on Barnala Road wore a deserted look on Thursday.

Sirsa (city) station house officer Suresh Pal said no posters were defaced. "Things are peaceful," he said.
Sirsa district INLD president Padam Chand Jain, however, did not toe the police official's line. "Posters were defaced and we feel it's a dirty trick by rivals," he said.
