A ONE-day seminar on ?Legal and social issues related to children? was held today under the aegis of Bhopal Childline at the BSSS College here. Representatives of various organisations working for children attended the seminar.

The main objective of the seminar was to make participants aware about the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act 2000 and role of Childline 1098 network. It also sought to create awareness about sensitive issues related to children – mainly those belonging to street/slums or abused by someone within the family or outside it and how to deal with such issues and to make them aware about the present scenario of the children who are on the streets.

The welcome address was delivered by Dr Joseph P P, director, Nodal Organisation, Childline Bhopal. The resource persons were Enosh George Carlo who talked on Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act 2000’, Dr Vinay Mishra, HOD, Department of Social Work, BSSS College on `child abuse and child psychology’ and Dr Gautam Gyanendra, HoD, Department of Social Work of Barkatullah University who spoke on `Problems of street children and the role of NGOs’.

The vote of thanks was proposed by director in-charge, Nodal Organisation, Childline Bhopal, Liju Verghese.
