CID to probe opium case against Jaswant

He and his aides have been booked under the NDPS Act for serving and consuming a drink laced with opium.

The Crime Investigation Department (CID) will look into the opium case against BJP leader Jaswant Singh and his party colleagues including three Rajasthan ministers and the chief whip in the state assembly, official sources said on Friday.

The above party leaders have been booked under various sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act for serving and consuming a drink laced with opium at a traditional get-together held at Jaswant Singh's ancenstral home at Jasol on October 31.

An investigation officer will be appointed as soon as the case file arrives the police headquarters here, official sources said.

Besides Jaswant singh nine others booked in connection with the case are Raghuveer Singh Kaushal, Lalit Kishore Chaturvedi, Kailash Meghwal (all MPs), state cabinet ministers GS Tiwari, NS Rajvi, Madan dilawar, Chief whip Mahaveer Prasad Jain and two BJP MLAs Jogeshwar Garg and SS Rajpurohit.
